LoBotWhen I entered the automatic results in the unfinished games, oscardolan1won the group. The table is what it is, but the rules makes it difficult to get promoted without finishing the games, so I have suggested for the table judge that Belloslava is promoted instead. 4/02 2017 09:38:35
LoBotThe season is close to its end, and Belloslava is ahead. But if the last games are not finished, I will set some automatic results at deadline, and as it looks right now, oscardolan1 may get the victory. The rules say that if you don´t finish the games, you may lose your promotion, the table judge may edit this group and may give the promotion to Belloslava anyway. If you are oscardolan1 and care about the promotion, I recommend either finish all games, or, if impossible, report current score in this comment field before deadline. 3/02 2017 00:18:16
Monty022Smurphy 1, hi, the league is a number of groups within a division. You play the opponents allocated in your group during the 2 week season. You need to play each of them once and complete each match before the season deadline (shown under the table above) and manually record the final score back here on the website. Note only the first game played with your opponents counts. If you have an enjoyable game with an opponent, that´s great, and there´s nothing stopping you from playing more games with that player, but these subsequent games are just friendlies and don´t count towards the league so there´s no recording of the scores of those matches.

At the end of the season, you will be reassigned to another group in division 8 and a new season will commence and you now have to play each of your new opponents once within the new 2 week deadline of the new season. The objective is to win your games and ideally finish on top of your group at the end of the season. If you do, you get promoted up to division 7 and you will be allocated to a group of division 7 players in the following season to play each of them. Win that group and you get promoted to division 6 and so on. As you move up the divisions, the calibre of opponent improves and it gets tougher and tougher to win. Of course, if you have poor luck and don´t win many matches, and you finish in the bottom or second bottom position of your group, then you would get relegated down one division the following season. Personally I enjoy that aspect of WLoH as there is always something to play for. If things go well, you need to fight hard to win the group and gain promotion, and if things go bad, you still need to fight hard to avoid relegation. So there is always something to play for.

And finally as the moderator has indicated, you are more than welcome to play matches with anyone at any time, whether they accept the invite is at their discretion, it´s just that these matches are deemed friendlies and don´t count as scheduled league matches. When I first joined the league, I literally missed the season start by a couple hours so had to wait 2 whole weeks before I played my first official WLoH match. However, whilst waiting, I randomly chose a couple players from divisions 2,3,4,5 and 6 (there was only 6 divisions back then) and played friendlies with them to gauge the standard of play. It was a real eye opener as the standard of play was very tough throughout all the divisions but extremely tough in the higher divisions.

Not sure what else to tell you. The rules tab above will fill in a lot of gaps in what I´ve mentioned plus tells you what to do in a number of common scenarios (eg. How to score if an opponent resigns). As you move up the divisions, the number of groups reduces so the competition for promotion is tough and any loss can be brutal to your chances of promotion.
