LoBotCongratulations to sarah2220 who has won Season 76, Div 3, Group 1! This comes as no surprise to me, sarah2220 is a magnificent player. 8/05 2015 12:29:51
jep49236Lobotommy, I really appreciate the explanation. Mistakes and problems happen. I´m sure you do your best to avoid them, and to minimize their impact when they do happen.

I also appreciate the effort you and others put in to providing WLOH. It´s a great site, and it is a lot of fun to play.

monty022Lobotommy, I think you need to try and find a way to fix issues like this and contain them to the divisions impacted. The issue was due to influx of new players and presumably impacted the new div 6 and probably div 5. However, this should not have had any impact on established divisions 2,3 and 4. The groups for these divisions were final and published on the website and people had commenced sending out invites to "meet the opponents you see here". There should have been no reason to reshuffle any of these groups. We had a similar issue in international a few seasons ago where for a few hours we had a div 7. The issue was clearly isolated to div 6/7 but all divisions got reshuffled with the same confusion about matches started with players no longer in their final groupings. I´m not belittling the efforts you´ve put in to resolve the issue, I´m just wishing it could be more targeted to the area impacted without rippling through every division. 25/04 2015 08:54:04
SnoorreMy two cents about the questions from jep49236:

If a game is started with the intension of being a WLoH-game, that game counts as a WLoH-game, even if the groups are changed later on, if you still are in the same group. I can´t see any reason for anyone thinking anything else.

25/04 2015 08:26:04
quontumleapNo sweat, lobotommy! As long as I know that I didn´t do something wrong. Actually, next time, I´ll know to wait until I get the email before I send out invites. I did get three emails, but they were all duplicates of the new revised list. Thanks for spending time to fix. Now go get some sleep! ;j 25/04 2015 08:15:40
lobotommyHi, sorry about the problems.

The last mail you got counts, and you meet the opponents you see here.

I was not aware that the page has sent you more than one mail, I only got one.

We got problems because of the large increase in number of players this round (WLoH had a sleeping bug that could only be triggered by groups with only beginners, which happened now. I had a lot of fun working on that at hours when I normally sleep. But then again, all the bugs are my own fault.)

jep49236Ref, I am sure that all of us want this season to work as well as possible, and the concern for all of us is to have a fair and competitive season of Wordfeud League of Honor games. Still, there is ambiguity which I think you should address. It is very possible for honest players to still have a misunderstanding over this situation.

If I invited a, b, c, d, e, f and g to play because they were originally listed in my division, and a, b, c and d accepted, then the division got shuffled so I am playing b, d, f, g, i, k, m and p, what if b invites me to another game? Which is official?

If I made a terrific 158 point play against d, but d said "the season hadn´t started yet, it´s not official, I´m starting another game", is he right?

These turn out to be hypothetical in this group. I am in a fine group of excellent players. No one tried to take advantage of the situation with which we were presented. But they could. We are all aware there may be some players who would do that.

Perhaps you could arrange a meeting with the other division heads of the WLOH corporation at your headquarters metroplex, when there is a convenient available meeting space of appropriate size, and discuss this, and explain to the technical leaders that their actions could cascade into difficulties for the players? Or perhaps I am overstating the difficulty and there are 2 or 3 of you running everything as I suspect, so you could just mention it to the technical person?

I assure you I am not trying to create trouble. Also that my tone should be viewed as mirthful and collegial, not irate or disrespectful.

Thanks!

The RefHi all,

Sorry about the confusion. I have absolutely no control over the technical aspects of the site. One point I can make is, during the course of the season, there may be some changes to the "original" group due to exclusions, place swapping or, as in this case, technical glitches. In the end, only games against players in the group are relevant.

25/04 2015 02:42:05
quontumleapI´m confused, as well. I´m playing six games now from the original list that was posted yesterday. It appears that two more game have since been completed after the new groups were already selected that caused further regrouping (?). So I´m wary about inviting the new folks on the list. Also, like jep49236 said, I don´t mind so much but there are a couple of high-scoring plays from my opponents that will be wasted. Can we get confirmation that this is the final list? Also, is there a likelihood this will happen again. When should we be checking for the new season placement? Thanks. =] 25/04 2015 01:49:26
michalrose50Very confused 24/04 2015 23:48:23
jep49236The page here was opened 8 hours ago with one list of players, then was updated 5 hours ago with another, and 3 copies of the e-mail were sent out informing us all of the start of season 76 with the new list. I had invited the original list to play.

This creates confusion. Should we continue those games with players who didn´t change groups, or create new games that begin after the schedule was set? I think we need a ruling on that, O Referee.

Also: One player (lupie23) was moved out of my group who had made a 94 point play. It´s a shame for her but it won´t count for a league game. I´d be pretty unhappy if that happened to me.

LoBotThis is truly a good pack! MICHALROSE50 is the most experienced player here, with 73 seasons in WLoH. KALADIST is the secondmost experienced player in the group, and has played continously since the debut in season 28. JEP49236 is a terrific player who has been number 2 in division 3 in season 72. AUTOBOTJAZZ is avirtuoso player who has been number 2 in division 3 in season 54. SARAH2220 is the player with the highest average score in a season, with 455 points per match (it happened in season 44 in division 4.) GUD RUN is the player here who most recently went undefeated through an entire season, it happened in 4. division in season 75. LITTLEBLACKDRESS is a amazeballs player who has been number 2 in division 3 in season 65. SRIGANESH is a superb opponent who was number 5 on this level last season. QUONTUMLEAP is the most frequent winner in the group, with a frequency of 667 victories per 100 losses.

The winner gets promoted, the two last players will be relegated. You can´t really tell a favourite here, but sarah2220 and Kaladist are two clever players who obviously can win this. They have met 2 times before in the league, and they have won 1 times each, so if you ask nicely, I don´t have a favourite. But if you put a gun to my database, I would say that sarah2220 will top the table at the end of the season.

We have some bills to pay. If you help us with that, you get a lot more statistics, you get training tools and a wordfeud course at the Improve page, and the Player page starts to work. And you get rid of the commercial banner on the top of the page. A donation of $15, 12 euro, 10 £ or 90 kroner gives you access for a year. Click the donate button for PayPal donation.
