monty022Soldier26, it´s the luck of the draw as to who you get grouped with in your first season. You seem to have some tough opponents but not what I would term "league veterans" and playing styles will vary as you go further. Scoring well and leaving your opponent limited juicy opportunities seems like a sound approach in general (without getting into rack leave considerations). Locked up boards occur but there´s usually some hooks that exist to unlock them if needed. Also, if you are winning,then you want to lock up the board and shut down bingo lanes, and open up the board when behind. If you play without an eye on defense, then you are just opening yourself up for a huge counterplay and that´s not going to help your chances of winning.

Knowing your 2 letter words is critical IMHO, as it permits parallel word plays that boost word scoring tremendously and hamper your opponent playing through your word. Also, those 2 letter words can be very helpful in letting you play a bingo.

As to why people aren´t registering their scores, I doubt they know they are even in the tournament. Many sign up and then forget, miss the email, or have lost interest in the league. Such is life. All I can say is play your best and enjoy your WLoH journey. It´s pretty good really, especially as you move up the divisions. Cheers.

soldier26I was excited to play but so far im not that entertained. A bunch of locked up boards against players that stay on defense and wont advance the game. Two letter words seem to be used too often. Players are definitely good though. When trying to keep a close score i often find myself drowning in vowels with no where to play on whats most likely a locked up board. Also why has no one else registered a score? Forgive me this is my first tournament and im not hip to the ways of the league. 16/08 2015 06:34:34

LoBotMan, that is a clever horde of quality players! HAAKMAN is the most mature player in this group, with 14 games in the league. MFLOWERS5435 is the player here who most recently went undefeated through an entire season, it happened in 9. division in season 83. FUNYUNMASTER is a supernatural player who has been number 4 in division 9 in season 83. NORMAL1308 is a clever opponent who was number 7 on this level last season. GRANTLYD is the most frequent winner in the pack in the last 10 seasons, with a frequency of 0.0 victories per loss.

The winner gets promoted. Additionally, if you finish second, you have a 33% chance of promotion. It is determined by points and spread compared to players in the other groups in the same division. I feel pretty confident that haakman ends up as the winner here.
