Navn Melding Tid
LoBotniteside132 has won Season 89, Div 7, Group 45 and can add the virtual gold medal to the collection from the glory days. My guess is a bronce medal from 6.division is the one that shines the brightest. If virtual medals shines at all. What do I know. It is the 2. time that niteside132 wins a group at this level. 4/11 2015 10:22:31
ed_in_oc"So then the rules Shud b clear with no inconsistencies." yes, thatz y the ref said in the email that ee wuz contacting the webmeister to fixx the perigraph that caused yer confuzion. Sum buddy put that thar meestakenly. All should be gud goin fwd. Cheerios! 30/10 2015 08:13:07
swampduck1975Niteside to top the table,whoop whoop. U can do it!!!!!! 30/10 2015 05:46:38
swampduck1975So then the rules Shud b clear with no inconsistencies. They Shud have a combined dictionary just for wordfeud, I think that would solve this recurring issue. AND I have changed to the us version so this Shud appease the certain player who made such a song n dance about it.. It has bin a interesting subject n I thank monty, wloh, n one other for their comments! So instead of moaning at me,the game provider Shud get the flak, but we English av thick skins!! Special thx to Ed_in_oc for making all this possible.. I guess the next tournament will b boring by comparison. Thx to all..

..pmsl....

Ed_in_ocFrom the WLOH referee: "I have contacted the webmaster to edit that paragraph in the rules page [that says games are started with SOWPODS dictionary]. People playing in other languages see the same sentence but never challenge others using sowpods / international. The group is in the US dictionary league and as such, must play with US dictionary."

No change has been made.

Yes, it is only a game, but all games, even the simplest, have rules that must be followed.

30/10 2015 00:21:09
monty022Swampduck, I must have skimmed over that line many times. I have posted a thread in the English International league to get that line amended as that is where the site owner is most likely to see it and hopefully tidy that line up. Well spotted. We shall see if anything becomes of it. In the meantime, just play your matches with the dictionary that aligns to the league you play in. Currently that would mean to play matches using the English US dictionary. Cheers. I promise not to bore others with further comments on this matter here. Adios amigos 29/10 2015 15:56:46
swampduck1975Thanks wloh, remembering it is a game n not somewhere to complain about a dictionary.

Can,on this page the rules b amended to show that u use the English us dictionary n not the international one! I am guessing if u were on the other league it would say to use the international dictionary. Then at least I wudnt get moaned at for following the rules. Also there mite b a discrepancy between the rules and the email u lot send out!! After it only a game n it only a dictionary, as long as u enjoy it,does it really matter????

Thx again wloh.

WLoH Support@Turningandburning: Behave! This is from the Rules page: "Verbal abuse of other players in the forum, or offensive remarks in general, is of course unacceptable and might lead to exclusion. Remember that this is a game meant for entertainment and joy." 28/10 2015 09:01:32
swampduck1975To turn n burn. REALLY!!! Get a grip. Chill Winston. Av a day off. Sort urself out. N most importantly keep ur sticky beak out!!!!

Av a nice day..n remember to smile....

TurningandburningSwampduck1975, you´re an idiot. 27/10 2015 15:43:48
swampduck1975Mucho gracious Monty. 27/10 2015 14:08:10
monty022Swampduck, if you check the tournament email it doesn´t simply say English, is says "use the English US (TWL) dictionary." for matches in the English US league. The English US dictionary is based on TWL which is the standard word list used in scrabble tournaments in North America. The English International uses the SOWPODS word list which is the word list used in scrabble tournaments everywhere else. At least that´s how I understand it. And there is a sizeable difference between the two dictionaries. English US is smaller list than English International. It feels like 80 % of the words in English international are also in English US, but at times it feels like 2 % ugh. JA, ZO, DI, DA, UR, IO, EA, TE, IWI, QIN, and my favourite bingo of all time ETAERIO are all not found in English US dictionary, and that´s not even scratching the surface. Just keep the 2 dictionaries separate when playing your league matches.

The sign up page is where you can update or include your place of origin info. Cheers.

27/10 2015 07:16:43
swampduck1975Also Monty how do u enter a place of origin in the "from" box? 27/10 2015 03:55:47
swampduck1975Monty,u av cleared up several issues n I thank u. However why does it state to use the English book in the u.s league? Surely this a oversight! N does it not get confusing playing in both leagues where u would have to change the dictionary for each respective league? And how come most people just play the game irrespective of dictionary assignment? So is there any advantage to either book? Am not trying to b awkward, I just English n that wot we do!!! Ta Monty, most helpful..

P´s g´day mate!!!

27/10 2015 03:21:10
monty022Swampduck, There are 2 separate leagues at WLoH for English language. There is the English US league that uses the English US dictionary in matches only. And there is the English International league that only uses English International dictionary in all its matches. So as you are signed up for English US league, it is not appropriate to play matches in English International dictionary here as this is the US league. Both leagues are global and where you physically reside has nothing to do with which league or language/dictionary you must play with. I´m from Australia and I play in both leagues.

If your preference is English International games, then you should go to the sign up tab above and register for the English International league. Whilst there you could deactivate from the US league if you wish or continue to play in both leagues but knowing you need to play matches with the corresponding dictionary. FYI, the next English International season commences this weekend as the leagues run on alternate weeks from each other. Hope that clarifies it a little for you. It´s really not a level playing field if you are playing matches with international boards whilst everyone else is lumbered with the frustratingly restrictive US dictionary. Cheers

26/10 2015 19:40:48
swampduck1975One more thing, looking at the tables on the international league there b peeps from all over the world. I guessing they not complaining about a sodding dictionary.

Many the.

26/10 2015 15:09:51
swampduck1975Just having looked I av found a wordfeud English international. So perhaps I play in the wrong league, but really!!! When I joined this is where I was placed. So maybe I may switch to play with my own kind then!! 26/10 2015 15:06:31
swampduck1975I live in the united kingdom n my rules state normal board with English international sowpods dictionary!

R these matches arranged randomly or is there a English English league?

Don´t c wot the big deal is,as long as u playing a competitive game!

I´d there any advantage to either one?

monty022Posting here for convenience. Matches in the English US league MUST be played using the English US dictionary in order for them to be valid. English International matches are not valid here. That is treated like a totally separate language and similarly you wouldn´t count a match in US league if it was played in say French or Dutch or Norwegian language. 24/10 2015 06:32:36
LoBotWelcome to WLoH! The e-mails we send out frequently get caught by spam filters, so some of your opponents may not be aware that they play a league match. Please mention it in the chat of the game when you play them. Read our Rules page if you have any questions. And have fun! 24/10 2015 03:34:56
LoBotPeople, this is a brainy cluster of smartness! JAZZYLADY73 is number 1 on the all time table of the fifth division on this website. TURNINGANDBURNING is the player with the highest average score in a season (only counting the last 50 seasons), with 473 points per match (it happened in season 80 in division 8.) SWAMPDUCK1975 is a marvellous player who has been number 3 in division 7 in season 88. KRISSC12 is a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious player who has been number 3 in division 7 in season 86. ED_IN_OC is the most frequent winner in the bunch in the last 50 seasons, with a frequency of 2.31 victories per loss. NITESIDE132 is the player here who has won most groups, with a total of 3 victories. JJ0PLIN is a magnificent opponent who was number 4 on this level last season. PETER444 is the player here who most recently went undefeated through an entire season, it happened in 8. division in season 88.

The winner gets promoted, the two last players will be relegated. With this many fine players it is hard to tell you who wins, but I guess ed_in_oc will top the table at the end of the season.
