Cant_lose@LoBot That is because I didn´t play last season, this is my first time. It´s only my 3rd round of play. So far so good I have won each of the 3 rounds. 6/11 2015 11:51:44
LoBotUnbelievably, Cant_lose won Season 89, Div 6, Group 13! This is highly surprising, Cant_lose did nothing last season to warn us of this marvellous performance. Greetings and salutations! 6/11 2015 05:43:58
Grumpy.neilBest of luck to all! Please forgive the drama. 5/11 2015 18:20:43
Cant_lose@grumpy.niel looks like looks like you´re no fortuneteller because I´m going to win this tournament round lol 2/11 2015 09:26:29
WLoH Support@Grumpy.neil: Accusing other player for cheating in the Wordfeud chat or in the forum is not OK. You should take a screenshot of that chat and send it to the ref.

To your opponent: If you suspect any cheating, don´t accuse anyone here or in a chat. Send a mail to the ref, with screenshots from the game, as described in the rules. The e-mail address is found on the rules page.

Grumpy.neil@monty...thank you for the tips. I´ve only been playing tournaments for a few weeks and its nice to hear another POV. I wrote my post because a player (who shall remain nameless but who´s ego is self evident) accused me of cheating. I wanted transparency regarding my methods. I´m new here and enjoy the games, but I don´t like sore losers. 30/10 2015 09:23:46
monty022Grumpy.neil, I was very excited to read your post. There are hardly any posts in the forum about wordfeud strategy or techniques or methods of play, so it was quite refreshing to see a post of your nature. I thank you most sincerely.

Of course, when it comes to skinning cats, we all know there is more than one way to do it. So I´d like to add some extra points into your list if I may.

Firstly, I always try for a bingo. If no good, then I´m looking for some of the other scoring plays you refer to using premium squares.

Secondly, don´t underestimate the value of playing words parallel to words on the board. It pays to know your 2 and 3 letter words so that you can use this technique to boost your scoring.

I differ slightly to your 2 above. I assume you are just referring to J, Q, X and Z. I tend to offload these quickly as they are less bingo friendly letters. Of course, if I can dump them on a premium square, then sweet, but I´ll dump them for face value to improve the chances of a bingo next turn rather than reserve/hang onto them for any length of time.

Point 3, I think you need to temper your play with rack leave considerations. It´s nice to out score your opponent with 22 to their 20 but you need to think ahead to your next turn. If your rack was ERSWVUI, and you used the ERS to get 22 compared to your opponents last play of 20, then you start your next play with 4 nasty tiles WVUI. I would try to offload 2 or 3 of the bad letters. I might not score more than my opponent that one turn, but I might out score them by 30+ if I can bingo on my next turn.

Those are just a few thoughts that struck me as I read through your list. The better or elite players here may have additional insights if they care to share. Personally I´m just happy to read a post in the forum which isn´t "player X resigned. How do I score that?", so I´m exceptionally grateful that you took the time to post that grumpy.neil. Many thanks and good luck with your play. Cheers

grumpy.neilP.S. - Find players who like to play for fun and use online tools to help you build up your "WordFeud vocabulary." This will help you become familiar with what some really obscure letter combinations that aren´t strictly "English" but are acceptable by WordFeud rules. Of course, don´t do this whilst playing in the tourneys. 29/10 2015 09:20:33
grumpy.neilAs I explained recently to another player, you don´t have to be a great player, you just have to manage the board, and the margin of points between you and your opponent... and try not to lose by too many points. When I play for "fun" I like to be creative and come up with lots of unique combinations, irregardless of the point total. When I play tourneys like this one, I don´t try to have an overwhelming win. In fact, the only times I do is when I get lucky with the tiles i draw. Here are some tips to how I play:

1. I try to limit my opponents access to Premium Letter and Word spaces (DL, TL, DW, and TW)

2. I try to reserve high point letters for when I can place them on Premium spaces

3. I always try to find words that give me a better score - even if by only a few points - than my opponent´s last turn

4. I liberally make use of WordFeud´s forgiving nature and try multiple letter configurations, even if I "know" the word isn´t Standard English, since WordFeud uses many common non-English words, for example, "QI" or "XU." Even words that seem like nonsense sometimes get accepted.

5. Remember, its not Scrabble, its WordFeud. The rules are very similar but not the same. You have the option to "explore" and try different letter combinations, over and over; and the "English" is not "text book English," its web-English.

I hope this helps other moderately good players beat the pants off the High Rollers and level the playing field a bit.

grumpy.neilPJ808 is cleaning up. 29/10 2015 05:06:19
LoBotHere we have a talented gang! BLKCLOUD9 is the one with most experience here, with 128 games here. 1ITY is the one who most recently won a group on a decent level, the player won division 6 back in season 83. GAME MATE is in marvellous form and was just promoted from division 7. GRUMPY.NEIL is a awesome player who has been number 3 in division 6 in season 85. I-DOGG is a splendid player who has been number 2 in division 6 in season 86. PJ808 is the player here who has won most groups, with a total of 3 victories. AUNTBVP is the tactically strongest player, the opponents has merely scored the humble average of 123 points per game. CANT_LOSE is the player here who most recently went undefeated through an entire season, it happened in 7. division in season 88.

The winner gets promoted, the two last players will be relegated. If I were to guess, I would say that 1Ity wins the season.

We have some bills to pay. If you help us with that, you get a lot more statistics, you get training tools and a wordfeud course at the Improve page, and the Player page starts to work. And you get rid of the commercial banner on the top of the page. A donation of $15, 12 euro, 10 £ or 90 kroner gives you access for a year. Click the donate button for PayPal donation.
