LoBotAfter an incredible season Dick Shunerry has finally dug the teeth into the gold medal of Season 91, Div 6, Group 21. I am not that surprised, Dick Shunerry is an old hero who once tasted the silver of 5.division. It is the 3. time that Dick Shunerry wins a group at this level. 24/11 2015 05:46:58
agriffaI just want to express my gratitude to everyone who has helped here. It is reassuring to know that, even though the league is now so large, there is good support and monitoring in place when needed. Many thanks 20/11 2015 21:38:44
markpro17What a fucking joke this is 20/11 2015 04:11:21
tydfil@the judge the memory is indeed a blessing but also a curse. It nags away at me and I find it difficult to ignore - lol I thought it may just annoy everyone re the issue in this group! Respect on the resolution. May I also offer respect to agriffa for her openness and honesty but in particular, her dignity. Good luck to the group this season. 20/11 2015 01:54:33
WLoH Int JudgeAll opponents are awarded a 150-0 win against Markpro17, no other results should be entered. My thanks to agriffa for giving her blessing in allowing the debate to be held on the community board and who in no way has cheated or been proved to play poorly. Respect should be shown for each and every players´ decision in the moves they make. 20/11 2015 00:27:01
WLoH Int JudgeSo Markpro17, not only did you record a result which was not in the best interest of your opponent (while claiming you had) but you then changed that score to benefit yourself further. Evidence indicates you resigned the game on purpose as you wrongly assumed you would benefit, your claim of resigning by mistake is laughable. You then cheated by tampering with the score again and giving yourself a win even though it put the opponent you were robbing in a relegation position. The following season you then have the cheek to accuse an innocent fellow member of cheating/poor play.

You are not welcome in this league and are permanently excluded.

20/11 2015 00:15:50
WLoH Int JudgeThank you tydfil, your good memory is a blessing :) 19/11 2015 23:56:24
tydfilHi judge I concur....I wanted to check that Mark had said he entered the 150-0. I am 100 % sure that 150-0 was there in famoxy´s favour. I believe the issue first arose because Mark was unhappy because his opponent had taken 50 points of M´s score. You explained, WLoH support explained and I explained that -50 is legitimate and gave the reasons for that. 19/11 2015 23:50:16
WLoH Int JudgeMarkpro17, your memory fails you, you entered the 150 - 0 scoreline last season and admitted doing so. You said to the player it was input in their favour when in fact taking 50 points off your score would of been more be beneficial to them. 19/11 2015 23:44:45
tydfilHi judge and ty ...bear with I just want to triple check something...... 19/11 2015 23:30:58
WLoH Int JudgeHi tydfil, not only do I not mind you not looking at the group last season but I am grateful. Thanks for the excellent summary. I believe a score of 150-0 was entered against Markpro17, do you recall this also? 19/11 2015 23:24:04
WLoH Int JudgeInteresting comments, I wanted to bring this issue to the board because I hoped our more experienced players would help Markpro17 grasp there was no cheating or dishonourable play against him. As usual Monty did not let me down, some excellent points, your first sentence I personally agree with although it is a generalisation and I would prefer the phrase ´poor tactics´. Also this is just our opinion, others may choose to play differently. I am hesitant to comment without seeing the board or letters that were swapped. Swapping letters to find a bingo is a risk, if it doesn´t pay off who knows how many times someone may choose to take that gamble. As an opponent I would be delighted.

Whatever individual opinion is, respect should be shown to agriffa, it is up to them how they play and through experience tactics are discovered and refined.

Markpro17 accusing others of cheating or dishonourable play is the biggest issue here for me. It will not be tolerated. It also seems to be hypocritical. Lets find out....

19/11 2015 23:15:48
Steve^WAwesome! That would take some nerve. I guess games like that are an opportunity to rethink your normal strategy, even if at first they seem frustrating. Anyway enjoy your games all in this group. 19/11 2015 21:15:05
tydfilDef on the right lines Steve but slightly cooler. Was player A´s go first. They passed. Player B knew that their opponent had a reputation for passing and not taking first turn. Perfectly legit but player B had wearied of it so swapped his high scoring letters. Player A passed again. Player B swapped again and so on until Player B had a 2 blanks and 5 1 pointers. Player A passed. At this stage player B passed and Player A provided the 3rd consecutive pass and as you realised the game ended with player B the winner. Took some nerve I guess but I thought was clever. 19/11 2015 21:07:22
Steve^WIntriguing conundrum @tydfil - did player A have both blanks and 5 single point letters to start? Perhaps they then passed because they thought they´d get a chance to play an 8 letter word after their opponents move. Player B passed too for some reason, having a 10 point rack. Player A then realised that by passing again they were guaranteed the win as their opponent must have had a higher value rack than 5? If so that would be cool! My passing is normally more desperate than that for sure (I feel your pain @agriffa :-) 19/11 2015 20:42:48
agriffaIt is i who swapped tiles and it is indeed weak play. The game is ongoing so I won´t go into great detail but it was a decision that i made due to having little or no alternative which is testament to strong play on my opponent´s part as well as bad luck with my letters. I would only use swapping to try and get a bingo at the start of the game when the score is even. 19/11 2015 19:20:01
tydfilHi Markpro I suspect that when monty refers to poor play he is referring to poor strategy on your opponent´s part which could in fact disadvantage him/her rather than poor sportsmanship (monty, if am wrong please feel very free to correct me and I offer apologies). Swapping is legitimate as both the judge and monty have already explained to you.

As I was involved in the ´resigned game issue´ last season I have just taken a look at the relevant group. Hope that´s ok judge? Last season there was no dispute about the fact that you resigned the game against famoxy. The details can be seen in your group last season. You mooted the idea of a rematch. I pointed out that if famoxy did agree to a rematch they would be entitled to additional points equivalent to the lead they had when you resigned the game, as per the rules; that would have been 180ish which was also not disputed. You said that was unacceptable; in any event there is no indication that famoxy agreed to a rematch. The final result entered between you and famoxy was a 450-380 win to you; that resulted in famoxy being relegated and your surviving relegation. Was there a rematch? If so, it would mean that famoxy scored just 200 against your 450 - am just curious, hope you don´t mind:)

Just for fun @all - a conundrum. Result entered -5 beats -10...not a word played and the result was legit... how did that happen? Some of the old hands may recall it from about 2 years ago.

19/11 2015 18:48:19
markpro17Poor play exactly. Cheers Monty022 19/11 2015 15:55:44
monty022Swapping is a legitimate play and has its place in the game but it´s use would be infrequent, maybe a couple times in 10 games. Swapping tiles four times in a row is poor play. I´m guessing your opponent swapped 1 tile each time "fishing" for that perfect letter to complete their bingo. Meanwhile they score 0 each turn. You would be playing words and scoring 20-30 points each time. So after four passes in a row, you´ve advanced score by 80-120 and your opponent 0. Even if they finally play a bingo for 50-70 points, you´ve already out scored them during this phase of the game. I don´t see how scoring 0 could be considered cheating. If the board is tight, resist the urge to open it up for them and play defensive. You´re scoring, they aren´t. So ends the strategy session for today. Cheers 19/11 2015 15:23:43
markpro17So ur telling me that I can swap tiles constantly without making a word??? 19/11 2015 12:24:02
markpro17Well judge, the opponent swapped tiles 4 times in row without making a word over 3days, sorry mate but that is unfair that I have to make words and open up spots where my opponent can make a bingo or a good point score how do u think that´s fair?

In regards to last season, don´t know what happened with the scores, it was input by my opponent from memory

19/11 2015 12:22:40
WLoH Int JudgeMarkpro17, on another issue, last season you were in division 6, group 32. You apparently ´resigned a game by mistake´. I have to agree with Tydfils opinion on the legitimacy of that statement. The opponent won and the score was input. Why has this now changed to in your favour? An answer is needed promptly or you are gone from this league. I will be asking that player also. 19/11 2015 10:30:50
WLoH Int JudgeMarkpro17, I quote your in game chat to a recent opponent:

´no offence but whats with all the tile swapping? If you can´t make a word resign or pass, this is borderline cheating and/or bullshit game play´.

Mark, swapping tiles is part of the game, it is not cheating. It is a perfectly acceptable practice/tactic used by most players now and then. A player should not be told to pass or resign instead, I don´t know why you would have this opinion but it is wrong to voice it and will not be tolerated in the league. Also you should be aware that adding the word ´borderline´ before cheating does not nullify the accusation. We do not allow this either. If we receive any similar reports in the future you will be ejected from this league. I suggest that if you still have the game on your opponent list you apologise using the same method you metered out the abuse, by WF chat. They have done nothing wrong.

LoBotWe have ourselves a fabulous lot! AGRIFFA is the player here who has won most groups, with a total of 8 victories. JOHNNYHANDS is a erudite opponent who was number 2 on this level last season. HAPPYELM is a superior player who has been number 5 in division 3 in season 72. DICK SHUNERRY is a wonderful player who has been number 2 in division 5 in season 74. PENSURGEON is a tremendous opponent who was number 6 on this level last season. GWRETHAM is the player with the highest average score in a season (only counting the last 10 seasons), with 471 points per match (it happened in season 87 in division 7.) GREENO1942 is a brainy player who has been number 4 in division 6 in season 90. MARKPRO17 is the most frequent winner in the party in the last 10 seasons, with a frequency of 4.75 victories per loss.

The winner gets promoted, the two last players will be relegated. If I were to guess, I would say that gwretham wins the season.
