Wordfeud League of Honour

So I rewrote the task to run each 20 minute or so. It checks all the time if it should start a new round. It goes for all the ordly leagues, and worked fine in other leagues, but you were probably lagging several days behind and so the fix sent you up to the intended speed too fast. This should be a one-time problem.

To reopen the games I will have to move the deadline. From next season on, I think the league will be more reliable.

Since December, I have volunteered my time as Judge to try to answer players´ questions, and, using my admin interface, to occasionally intervene to prevent incorrect relegations and promotions. However, I have no involvement in the creation of Ordly, or the tech that powers the games!

This season there have clearly been many issues, with games not appearing on time, and then appearing at random moments, which already makes it difficult for players to plan or prepare. Yesterday we had games that appeared and then disappeared within a few hours, meaning that many players (including me in my player guise!) forfeited games and were awarded "0" scores through no fault of their own.

As things stand, it clearly means that many of the relegation and promotion positions are not justified. I have emailed the Ordly creator Eskil to alert him to the issues. I do not know if it is technically possible, but it seems to me that one of the best options would be if the games that expired early yesterday could be reinstated, so that all players have a fair chance to complete them.

Please rest assured that I am doing what I can - within my limited influence - to help get things sorted :)

One effect of those tweaks is: I´m never unaware of the status (league/practice) of a game

It’s just 6, 7, 8 hours after 03:00 CET and it says your next match is “tomorrow” I have to believe that nothing will happen until 03:00CET tomorrow. It just catches me out when a match is launched without warning at some random hour. Note, I’m very careful at 03:00CET (1pm Melbourne time) to NOT be playing any practice games. Maybe it’s as simple as another blue button at the top of the screen that says Practice and is only for practice and the Play button takes you to your outstanding matches?

It involves

a) playing in a browser that can use the "Stylus" plus "Tampermonkey" extensions (may need some tampering with the browsers´ settings)

(on Android: Kiwi browser & Firefox beta, many more browsers on Desktops & Laptops)

b) downloading & installing two files from my dropbox using those extensions

c) ... without expecting much in terms of support

Eskil, I appreciate you fixing and launching the round of new matches but there needs to be some obvious flag on screen to indicate when you are in practice mode and when the game is a scheduled match. I only found out at the end of the puzzle when instead of it saying “Next”, it said “My opponent has not played yet”. Is there something you can do to make it more obvious or can the practice area be its own separate area completely apart from the match puzzles?

The two last players will be relegated. We have so many supernatural players here that it is difficult to pick a winner, but my guess is that Centrumspits wins the season.
