As to the "I personally get confused as to when the new puzzles show up & how long we have to play each puzzle" part:

I´m quite positive that the 72 hrs slot for each game starts when it´s 3:00 AM in Oslo, where the creator of this league lives.

Players may want to consider setting Oslo as an item in the world clock tab of their phone´s clock app.

That takes you to the page of the puzzle you are to solve.

The 5 blanks at the top of the puzzle page are a word that you must try to totally guess from scratch. The game is a mix between knowing a lot of words, & using strategy with the process of elimination to determine which letters might be in the puzzle word, & what the word might actually be. You only get I believe 6 tries for each puzzle word. Each attempt you make must also form a word, you can´t just guess random letters, they have to form a 5-letter word themselves. So starting out, like if you think the puzzle word might be BLINK, you would 1st plug in BLINK then see if any of the letters you guessed: B - L - I - N -K show up as either highlighted green or yellow in the puzzle word at the top. If any of the letters you guessed are in the puzzle word, they will either be highlighted as gray, yellow or green. Gray means thatvletter isn´t in the secret word. Green means you not only guessed a proper letter in the puzzle word, but you also guessed its correct location in the puzzle word. If a letter you guessed is highlighted yellow, that means that letter IS in the puzzle word, but you´ve guessed it in an incorrect spot, so you would then try to guess in a future turn that same letter, just in a different spot 

Ex: If you guessed BLINK, but really the secret puzzle word is BLOKE, the letters of the word you just guessed would show up as B in green, L in green (since those 2 letters you guessed are in the puzzle and in the right location), but the other correct letter you guessed- K - would be highlighted as Yellow, letting you know that the letter K is in fact IN the secret word, but you´ve guessed it in the wrong location.

Using those clues you would then make your next best guess at what the secret word is, also choosing letters you may not have guessed before. So the next turn, you might guess BLAKE. Those letters would then show up as B in green, L in green, A in gray (means that letter isn´t in the puzzle word), K in green, and E in green. Knowing those clues then you´re getting pretty close to guessing the secret word. 

Using the process of elimination & figuring out what letters might be in the secret word, hopefully after all your tries (or sooner, to score more points) you´ll have guessed the entire secret word. Each puzzle in the tournament is a duo competition between yourself and another player from the list pf players above. Whomever guesses the secret word in the least amount of tries wins that single match. At the end of the season, whomever has won the most matches & has scored the most points in the tournament wins the entire round.

I personally get confused as to when the new puzzles show up & how long we have to play each puzzle - I wish they´d just release all the puzzles at once so we could each play at our own pace, play at a time best for us so we could essentially play all the matches at once if our schedule required that. All that said, my understanding is that a new puzzle is "released" every day, and then I think you have 3 days to play it before the puzzle expires, and then it will be filed as a 0 /loss if you haven´t played it in time. Basically you´re supposed to log in to the puzzle page every single day, to play that daily new puzzle. But, if you don´t sign in for two or three days you´ll still be ok as long as you catch up on the daily puzzles within 72 hours of them being released.
