stepbrI´ve long pondered the best strategy for the first move on this board. Play a 5-letter or 6-letter word to start with and there´s a small but significant risk your opponent will open with a big bingo spanning either a TW/DW or two DWs... and the game is more or less over.

I have sometimes played a five-letter word centred on the centre tile to reduce this risk. That´ll cost at least 5 points but maybe, in the long-term, it´s worth it.

Or is it better, if you have a bingo-friendly set of letters (without having an actual bingo) to just play a 2-letter word and hope to get a bingo on Move 2? Or to change just 1 letter (though that´ll signal to your opponent that you have a bingo-friendly set of tiles)? Better players than me will doubtless have a view.

I don´t think it´s ever optimal to pass first go. If my opponent passes I just swap tiles so they´re in exactly the same position again; chances are, I´ll have a better set of tiles. So a player who swaps straight up will be in a worse position next turn if their opponent plays optimally.

Just thought I´d share my views as I´m unlikely to be able to next season!!

Viva GoaWOW ....... I didn´t knew there was an exposition of a PYRRHIC VICTORY I handed over with respect to Monday1, the greatest player Wordfued US English ever produced. There may never be another Monday1, with more than 30+ titles and counting. I never thought I would have to explain as this is an DIV 1 league comment section and we supposed to set up examples. But my opponent who thought he had a HOLLOW Victory and gave a wrong sequence of events maybe I am guessing to make him feel good or have a short memory.

Game started with Monday1 swapping 5 tiles and I passed, With them swapping one more tile. I passed and they passed. And I passed to finally let them win, as because I feel My opponent and a handful or few regular players in DIV 1

Never make the first move if its their turn to, so they can pounce on you with a Bingo after Bingo.

if you use the same tactics against them they start sending you messages in chat room accusing of unfair play.

My goal is to enjoy the game, it does´nt have to be in DIV 1,and I feel like sometimes

YOU NEED TO LOSE TO WIN.

LoBotGosh, this is an outstanding horde of quality players! BREESEY is the Yoda of the gang, with 2730 games in the league. MONDAY1 is the player here who has won most groups, with a total of 50 victories. DUDKAY is a terrific multitalent and does also crush opponents in division 3 in Ordly English while playing here. STEPBR is a erudite opponent who was number 3 on this level last season. MAD AS HELL! is the tactically strongest player of the last 10 seasons, the opponents have merely scored the humble average of 395 points per game. DUKEDUBARRY is a superior player who actually won the entire league in season 230. MTREMAYNE is number 4 on the medals table of the entire league in the league of honour. SPITTINGFIRE is a intelligent opponent who was number 7 on this level last season. VIVA GOA is the one who most recently won a group on a decent level, the player won division 1 back in season 353. UNDERMINER is a intelligent player who actually won the entire league in season 298. GANISWORLD is the player with the highest average score in a season (only counting the last 10 seasons), with 498 points per match (it happened in season 346 in division 3.) CHASE6 is the player here who most recently went undefeated through an entire season, it happened in 4. division in season 348. MANNY911 is a outstanding player who recently was number 5 in division 1 in season 352. GLATTAR is in superior form and was just promoted from division 2.

The two last players will be relegated. My two favourites here are monday1 and Viva Goa. They have met 23 times before in the league, and monday1 is ahead 18-5 in victories. So if I have to choose, I believe that monday1 ends up as the winner here.
