First of all, thank you to everyone for your kind words after the tech glitches a fortnight ago. I’m sure Eskil appreciates them, just as I do.

Thank you also for playing this season’s games on a friendly basis. To reiterate, there are no promotions and relegations based on these Season 88 results, but if you topped a division, well done – it will still be inscribed in the stats for posterity at least, even if nothing else happens 😊

Using the spreadsheet kindly compiled by WLoH Int Admin, I have been through and manually put all 210 (!) Ordly English players into the correct divisions for next season. This should restore everyone to where they OUGHT to have been at the start of Season 88, based on Season 87’s promotions and relegations. The groups in each division should also be restored to the usual more sensible sizes (a maximum of 11-12 per group in divisions 2, 3 and 4).

We won’t know if it has worked until LoBot kicks off the new season tomorrow. There is no reason why it *shouldn’t* work, but if it doesn’t, please be gentle. I am in the middle of my busiest and most stressful time at work in years, so an Ordly crisis right now was really not on my bucket list 😂.

TL;DR: Because LoBot has placed many players in the wrong divisions, Season 88 will be FOR FUN only, with NO promotions or relegations. Season 89 will restore everyone to where they should have been at the start of Season 88.

Thank you everyone for your patience earlier this week when any attempt to log into Season 88 of Ordly English generated a “yellow screen of death”. As Judge, my job is volunteering to answer players’ questions and to adjudicate to ensure fair outcomes – I am not involved in the game’s technology at all. However, I did try to reply to all your emails, of which there were over 40!

Game creator Eskil, while struggling with the flu, got the game back up and running yesterday (Friday), with a rebooted Season 88. Thank you for all your efforts, Eskil, in setting up and managing the gaming platform that we all derive so much enjoyment from.

Unfortunately, the reboot has ended up with a lot of players – as many as 50, we think, thanks to analysis by my colleague WLoH Int Admin – being placed in the wrong divisions by a clearly confused LoBot.

For example, shenanigan5 and CantersNick, who topped 2.1 and 2.2 in Season 87 have not been promoted to Division 1 – they are languishing in a previously unheard of, and inaccessible, "Division 0".

andypuzzler and jorgenhus, who topped two of the Division 3 groups last season, have inexplicably ended up in Division 1 instead.

And liamcorinne and agriffa, who were relegated from Division 1 in Season 87, have somehow dropped two divisions, to Dvision 3 now.

Many others have, for some reason, ended up one division above or below where they should be.

Once a season has started, it is not possible to move players around without breaking the game. Also, if we tried rebooting it again, there is no certainty that more glitches wouldn’t creep in.

That is why I, Eskil and the WLoH Judges have agreed that the fairest thing is to let Season 88 continue and conclude on a friendly, just-for-fun basis. We are communicating this early, after only one or two games have concluded, so that the basis for the season is clear from the start.

In short, because so many players are in the wrong divisions already, there will be NO promotions OR relegations this season. Instead, I will manually ensure that every player at the start of Season 89 is in the division they SHOULD have been at the start of Season 88, based on the results of Season 87.

Because the current season is just for fun, there will be no penalties – as there might usually be – for anyone who misses any games. However, results from Season 88 *will* still end up stored in the all-time stats – there is no easy way to delete them – so please bear this in mind when playing!

After a disruptive few days, I hope this is a fair approach. Apologies for the inconvenience caused by the tech glitches – which seem to be beyond anyone’s control – and thank you for bearing with us. From all the emails and comments it was heartening to see how many people clearly care about their Ordly English games!

The winner gets promoted, the two last players will be relegated. My two favourites here are Einbert Alstein and tau7. They have met 3 times before in the league, and Einbert Alstein is ahead 3-0 in victories. So if I have to choose, I believe that Einbert Alstein wins this group.
